Lent is the period of 40 days leading up to Easter (note: Sundays don't count). It is a time of preparation and focus, we remember Jesus' time in the wilderness before he started his public ministry (See Mark 1, Matthew 4, or Luke 4). We believe that Jesus went to the wilderness to set aside the distractions of normal, "worldly" life and focus on God and God's will for him. So we attempt to do the same during Lent--though often on a less stringent scale. We Christians customarily enjoy Friday Fish Fries; Discipline ourselves with No Chocolate, and Read or study our Bibles. Lent begins this year on February 26, 2020 with Ash Wednesday. These are all good things to do to remember the Passion of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We know that we cannot make ourselves Holy nor can we earn God's Kingdom. We do this to remember God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, the Holy Trinity and all that we have received in Blessings from Him. Salvation is a Gift of Grace and we have a choice: Do we accept His Gift or Not? It is YOUR choice and I pray that you will accept His gift of Salvation and Give your life to Him! You will be eternally thankful that you do!
