Read the Bible and study it and pray for enlightenment and how you can be a servant to Christ and to your fellow person.  As a person reminded me the other day, that if we want to be a bridge to help another to find Christ, then we must expect to be walked on!!

ALL ARE WELCOME TO WORSHIP GOD WITH US!!

COOKIES FOR OUR TROOPS
2019 Central Texas Conference (CTC) once again sponsored a mission project for the churches of the CTC to bake cookies that will  be delivered to the troops for Christmas. The Cookies were delivered to one of the Drop Off Sites listed below on Tuesday December 16 and the Cookies that were delivered Dublin First United Methodist Church were delivered  to the Dyes Air Force Base on Tuesday December 17th.   THANK YOU TO ALL THAT PARTICIPATED!!    This year 2019 we loaded 398 Boxes (796 Dozen) at Dublin FUMC and delivered them to Dyes AFB in Abilene as in previous years.
The AFB thanked all for the tasty treats for the troops and for all the LOVE that they represent.  THANK YOU!

Dear Rev. Murphey

Well, we’ve done it again!  A tremendously successful “Great Cookie Caper” is in the box!  No matter how many times we do this, I never cease to be amazed at the love and concern displayed by the members of the Churches involved in this project.  Sometimes it simply becomes overwhelming!
This year the total count was 2895 boxes, two dozen to the box, a total of 34,740 cookies for distribution to the troops!  Fantastic!  This year we also got a handful of cards from first graders which are being distributed as well.  I can’t help but believe that those children will grow up knowing they have contributed to the well being of those young men and women who guard our freedoms.
Since you are a consolidating point for the project, I would again most appreciate your sharing this letter with those churches who supplied to you.  Too, for those who made the trip to deliver to Abilene, please pass our heartfelt thanks.  I know it becomes a bit difficult for some to make such long trips but believe me the smiles on the faces of the Airmen receiving the boxes makes it worthwhile.  And to the bakers, know that nothing has been wasted!  The cookies were great!
I must tell you too, that this will be my last year to manage the project on this end.  I am getting a bit long in the tooth (I am now 87) and I am going to pass the project on to the First Sergeant’s Group at Dyess.  They have been a big part of the worker force in the past so they know the procedure well.  You should see no change at all in the process.  We have prepared instructional procedures to ensure that things continue to go smoothly. I have made a good number of new friends during these years and for that I am more than thankful.  God has been so good to us, and to me personally.  I can pass the torch with a smile, able to look back on a lot of cookies being passed (and eagerly consumed) with love.  Thank you all so much.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!
                                                          Sincerely,

                                                          Robert A. (Bob) Mehaffey

The Boom Box Ministry is a way to keep our nursing home residents and shut-ins connected to the church. Each recipient of this ministry has been assigned their own boom box so that they can receive copies of the weekly sermon on CD and hear it at their convenience. We also send them the weekly bulletin as they can use this resource along with the sermon to feel that they are still involved in the weekly church services. These people are so thrilled to get a visit from someone and know that they have not been forgotten. We are currently in need of volunteers to visit the shut-ins and deliver their sermon CDs each week. Please prayerfully consider a commitment of offering your time to brighten someone else’s day. If you could volunteer for a week or month or even on a more permanent basis, it would be greatly appreciated.  Just contact either Pastor Ken or let us know at the church office and we will set you up. It will bless these people greatly and you will find that it will bless you as well.

COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY

Picture
The Community Food Pantry is a ministry of FUMC-Dublin, reaching out to the needy of the community.  We have recently seen an increase in the number of families served each month.  This important ministry is a vital part of our outreach program.  Patrons can receive a generous assortment of dried and canned food items as well as vouchers for fresh milk at our local Brookshire Brothers grocery. The pantry is open M-Thursday, 9-12.  Just come to the church office.  Donations of food items such as rice, dried beans, pasta, pasta sauce, peanut butter, canned fruit, soup, macaroni and cheese are always needed as are monetary donations in order to continue to provide this much-needed service to our community.

COMMUNITY TABLE

Picture
The Community Table is another way that FUMC-Dublin has been ministering to the needy in our community. On the last Wednesday of each month we provide a nice meal free of charge, to anyone in the community who would like to attend. This is a way to help those who are finding it hard to stretch the food dollar at the end of the month before that next paycheck. We welcome everyone to come in for food and fellowship from 5:00-7:00.

CUB SCOUTS

Picture
First United Methodist Church of Dublin is a strong supporter of scouts and Scouting, participating in Scout Sunday and being current sponsor of the Dublin Cub Scout Pack 35, a role that the church has been proud to hold for many years.  We provide the boys with a place to hold their meetings throughout the school year as well as other areas where we recognize scouting in the community.

JAIL MINISTRY

Picture
We supply copies of the Upper Room devotionals to be passed out to area prison ministries. Also to the Golden Age Nursing Home in Dublin.  The devotionals act as a source of education and comfort to a group of people who need to be assured that they are not forgotten.

Bible Studies

Picture
We have ongoing Bible Studies for the men and women of the church. The different studies vary in length and duration and sometimes classes take a break for a few weeks and then they meet back again for a new study. Check it out!
