Get the word out that Erath County needs volunteers to deliver meals in the Dublin area. If you cannot drive everyday then be a substitute. Call 254-965-3510.
All Erath County residents may come to get food at the Stephenville First Baptist Church parking lot this Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. Take a friend, carry a hungry family, anyone living off social security could use some help.
Pastor Ken Lunsford and I attended a “Small Church Summit” in Gatesville last Saturday. The event ran from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. and the large church facility was crammed full of people. We saw many longtime friends, especially Pastor Ken, but he can find another Methodist preacher in Sherwood Forrest.
Ken and I both attended seminars about small rural or small urban congregations.
Barbara Stevens had one of her daughters in for a visit and they came to church. Barbara has had her great-grandson, Liam Bryson Ware, here visiting with family. Liam is the son of the late Jeremy Ware.
Kevin Stone was happy to have his mother, Judy Stone, sitting on his right and his daughter and son-in-law sitting on the left. Kevin may be a grandfather by the time you read this.
Lee and Betty Lusk are waiting on another great-granddaughter, it could be any day now.
Neva Smith is glad to be back home safely from Bryan.
This could have been a concern, but it is good news instead, it seems Jimmy Leatherwood made a trip to the ER. He must have worked too hard in the warm weather, but it is better to let the doctors have a look.
Ike and Patty Wade asked for prayers for Beverly Keith of Comanche.
Jeannie Wendt asked for prayers for her young neighbor, James, who is on crutches. Jeannie also asks for prayers for Franklin Graham when he brings a crusade to Blackpool, England.
Laura Leatherwood served as Worship Leader and Cole Moore served as acolyte.
Rev. Ken Lunsford preached on “Taming the Tongue!”
In the Book of James 3:1-12 it says a small flame can set a whole forest on fire. The tongue is a small flame of fire, a world of evil at work in us. It contaminates our entire lives. Because of it the circle of life is set on fire.
With our tongue we can both bless the Lord and Father and curse human beings made in God’s likeness. That should not be so according to James. Salt water and Fresh water does not flow from the same spring. “Be careful of stones that you throw!” (Hank Williams Sr. song)
Solomon said in Proverbs 12:18b, “the tongue of the wise brings healing.” Let’s all practice using words of healing instead of hate!
