The First Baptist Church, the Assembly of God Church, the First United Methodist Church and possibly others are having a picnic in Dublin City Park on Sunday, 10-19 at noon.  Bring your own sack lunch and drink, no food is provided, also lawn chairs would be good.  There will be music and singing, so if you play an instrument, please bring it along.  This is a community event.

Doris Morton was in an automobile wreak at the traffic light on the north side of town. Her car was totaled but Doris walked away with only bumps and bruises.  We offer to God all the praise and thanks for Doris’ well-being.

Cliff Wooldridge will have elective surgery this week and we hope he does as well as Nancy has.  Cliff has become the chief cook and bottle washer in the Wooldridge household since Nancy returned to the workplace.

I think they could use a casserole or care package of sandwiches while Cliff is “off his feet” for a while.

Nancy says their son’s house in the metro-plex completely lost its roof during last week’s severe storm and there was a lot of rain damage.  Everyone is thankful no one was injured in the storm.

Pastor Ken Lunsford preached the funeral for Steve Patterson on Saturday, 10-4.  The service was held at Victor Cemetery.  Our church provided a meal for the Patterson family in the Clay Annex.

Remember that Brady Moore will be preaching on 10-12 and that other youngsters will be serving in church.

There will be a baptism on 10-19.  Let us support the Hancock family with our attendance.

Get your donated items for the Lord’s Acre auction into the church and let the office know what you have brought.

Wish Eddie and Harlan Raley a happy anniversary, Wednesday 10-1, was their anniversary.

Karen and Ricky Rowe celebrated their anniversary on 10-2.

Pat Beaty’s birthday is 10-9 and Barbara Bean’s is 10-16.  Barbara is in the Mesa Vista Inn Health Center in San Antonio.  For a complete address for Barbara, call the church office.

Rev. Ken Lunsford’s sermon was based on Philippians 3: 4-14.  Paul writes in these verses that “In Christ I have found a righteousness that is not my own and does not come from the Law but rather from the faithfulness of Christ.”

The good news is that God did not send us more rules and regulations, but a Redeemer, God did not send up a statement but a Savior, the good news is that God did not send us a principle, but a person.  And that person is Jesus the Christ, the Messiah, Son of God, and friend.

The greatest moment in your life and mine comes when we say from the innermost depths of our being, “Jesus Christ, you are the son of the living God.”  When you say that and mean it, you will have found the treasure you have been searching for.  You will have found the bridge that will take you safely across every chasm, challenge, and problem of your life.

Jesus is the bridge over all troubled waters.
