Our fellowship hall will be a staging area for Dublin Goodfellows organization this December so we will not have Community Table in December.  Please support the local Goodfellows and local Salvation Army and do it now!  Don’t wait till Christmas week to make a gift or monetary donation, give as much as you can as soon as you can.

A large portion of the West District of the Central Texas Conference attended the Charge Conference held at Oak Dale United Methodist Church in Stephenville last Sunday afternoon.  Pastor Ken Lunsford, Judy Lunsford, Laura Leatherwood and Barbara Stevens represented Dublin First Methodist and Wilma Davis and Martha Starnes represented Laurel St. United Methodist Church.

Laura Leatherwood gave a report on all the good programs our church has (by the grace of God) been doing this past year.  The Community Table, Vacation Bible School, the joint pool party with Deleon First Methodist and many other projects which I have written about through the year.

Hico United Methodists reported they provided 100 pair of shoes for local children.  The Hico community helps with this expense.  Also the Hico Methodist church provides a location and volunteers to help the Tarrant County Food Bank distribute food once a month.  Congratulations neighbor for your care and concern.

Greens Creek United Methodist support The Memphis’ March which raises funds for the March of Dimes.  Pastor Mike Hannah reported they raised over $12,000 this year, an astounding sum for a small, rural congregation!  Greens Creek continues to provide a home for Alcoholic Anonymous meetings and also is a consoling place for those experiencing a difficult pregnancy.

We viewed a short video called “Ebola Prayer” at the start of services.

Juanita Duncan and her son Tommy presented the Advent program.  Juanita read from the Bible and Tommy lit the first candle on our Advent Wreath.

Alford Havens and Neva Smith were back in church on 11-30 so our prayers were answered and we are thankful.  Both Alford and Neva are doing much better and thanked the congregation for the flowers sent and our cards and prayers.

There were two guests for Sunday service and we hope they return often.

Mary Haley once again served as Worship Leader and did a fine job.  Mary says we need to restock the Food Pantry with rice, beans, and peanut butter, plus any other dry or long lasting foods.

Leta Sage sang “Sweet Little Jesus Boy” for the Offertory.  Leta did a beautiful job on this humble, yet powerful song.

Reverend Ken Lunsford preached from Mark 13. He said he had “An Announcement About our Future.”

Most people think of Advent as getting ready for Christmas, but the season of Advent is much more.  It is the announcement of a time when Christ shall return to establish His Kingdom.  It is a time of preparation for that final triumph over death and darkness. It is an amazing and wonderful promise about our future.

Our scripture says “Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.”  But in this imperfect world we live in, the church on whom Christ relies is asleep.  If He comes suddenly, do not let Him find you sleeping.  What I say to you and everyone is keep watch!
