Lisa Leatherwood was back serving as Worship Leader on 2-15. Lisa attributes her fast recovery from back trouble to the loving prayers offered for her well-being.
Lisa was happy to announce there is a new nephew on her and Mary Haley’s side of the family.
Kathy Logan fell in her yard and hurt her shoulder. She needed help and Hilda Underwood came to the rescue and took Kathy to Stephenville to the emergency room. Kathy is healing at home at the moment.
Pastor Ken prayed for Ronnie Belew by name as Ronnie was expected to have surgery in the metro-plex on 2-18.
Laura Leatherwood had a surprise for the Children’s Time, she brought a recording of “Climb up Sun Shine Mountain” to listen to. Then Laura told a story about Jesus taking Peter, James, and John up on a mountain where they were all alone. Jesus’ clothes turned whiter and brighter than anything the men had seen before. Next God spoke to them and said Jesus was His son! Laura said that we should ask Jesus for His light to shine on us.
Rev. Ken Lunsford preached on “Being Transformed by God.” He took his lesson from Mark 9: 2-13.
This part of Mark tells of the transfiguration of Jesus and that the disciples were terrified. And who wouldn’t be to see someone start to glow and their robe become whiter than any washing could make it. Then Moses and Elijah appear right before them and quickly they are gone into thin air.
The disciples have witnessed Jesus as they have never seen Him before, they see Him as Moses and Elijah and God always see Him and how we will we see Jesus when He returns! They saw Him in His full glory. The disciples were on the mountain top to renew their spirits and gain some insight. Now Peter wanted to build three shelters for the three great leaders of Peter’s religion and he wanted a shrine to worship in. But Jesus said “No, our work is back down in the valley.” Then God got Peter’s attention by speaking up. God said, “Be quite and listen.” We are called to listen to God and to focus on Jesus. God’s work of transformation continues and lives are changed. Allow the light of Christ to shine through all we do.
