Laura Leatherwood brought Valentine cards to teach the children’s lesson. Laura said God sent us a valentine when He sent Jesus. The Bible says in John 3:16 that God so loved the world, He sent His Son. We should also show someone we love them.
All the members with February birthdays were serenaded with “Happy Birthday.”

“This Is My Son, Listen To Him!” This was the title of Rev. Ken Lunsford’s sermon from Luke 9:28-43. This Gospel story tells us about “The Transfiguration of Jesus.”
Many of us have had times when we felt we were on top of the world, really happy, confident that we were close to God. We call these “mountaintop experiences,” and we hate to come down off that mountain! But to freeze that one moment in time shuts off the
possibility of the next moment.
For Jesus this was a time of confirmation and affirmation of his ministry. For Peter, James and John it was a brief glimpse of the transcendent, the reality that lies beyond everyday life.
Peter wanted to build a tent and camp there on the mountain, but Jesus quickly led the disciples back down into the daily routine. They went back to the life in the valley of teaching, preaching, and caring for the broken and hurting people of the word they lived in.
The Jesus who leads us to those spiritual high places also goes with us to the valley. Jesus is there in the valley of fears and tears of everyday life, Jesus is there at the failures of His followers.
On the mountain of Transfiguration, God reveals His plan. It is found in Jesus Christ. We are to listen to Him. Have you listened to His parables, learned from His teachings, watched His miracles, and felt His sacrificial love? Don’t forget those in the valley below; go share with your brothers and sisters to help them in life’s struggles.
Lent began with Ash Wednesday on 2-13 and so we start our journey to Easter.
