Saturday, 12-15, our church annex was like Santa’s workshop. It was bustling with activity because the Dublin Goodfellows were using the fellowship hall as a staging area for the food boxes they had assembled. All the Christmas boxes were delivered to the recipients.

Monday, 12-17, Pastor Ken and Judy Lunsford traveled to Lamkin United Methodist Church for a “Cookies & Carols” Christmas celebration. Pastor Ken played his guitar and Judy played the tambourine along with their friends Rita and Tom Wilson, Lee McCullough, and Wesley Westmoreland. The congregation sang along heartily to guitar and fiddle music.
After the singing the whole assembly was invited to Glen and Betty Hodges ranch home to see the lights and decorations and have refreshments. Glen is the son of the late Sybil and J.W. Hodges who were deeply loved members of this church. It was at this same ranch that J.W. Hodges met Jesus at the gate and was called
to preach.
Sunday, 12-16, Lee Leatherwood served as Worship Leader. It is so great to see the younger generation take part in church activities. Brady and Cole Moore assisted with the offering and acolyte duties.
Leta Sage sang a special called “When the Christmas Baby Cries,” it was beautiful and moving.
“Christmas without Music?” Rev. Ken Lunsford preached on the importance and impact religious music has on the listener.
Anne Lamott recounts her experience in the little African American church she attends in California. Annie says that “of all the things I loved about that church, it was the singing that pulled me in and split me wide open. It enveloped me; somehow the singing wore down all the boundaries and distinctions that kept me isolated.”
Our lesson from Zephaniah in the Old Testament begins like this: “Sing, O Daughter of Zion; shout aloud, O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, O Daughter of Jerusalem! The Lord, the King of Israel, is with you; never again will you fear any harm.”
When we sing of the wonders of Christmas it begins with love. And it reaches its climax in the manger of Bethlehem. In that manger God took on human flesh, God came and dwelled among us. God was in a lowly stable, reconciling the world unto Himself.
Can you hear the singing of the world? Listen closely; it is the song of everlasting love, hope, peace and joy. It is the song of Jesus Christ.
Come to the Candlelight Service on Christmas Eve. It will start at 6:00 PM and be over before the children get too sleepy. Bring a friend or neighbor and come hear the story of Jesus’ birth. There will be congregation carol singing also. Our church is ready, the Lord is ready, so come sing and pray it will do you a world of good
