The Wesley Foundation in Stephenville has a shoe drive in progress.  They want new or gently used shoes.  There is a collection box in our foyer and our administrative assistant, Leta Sage, is here from 9:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. so bring us some good shoes please!
Community Table is the last Wednesday of this month, and we serve from 5 to 7 p.m.  The menu for March is chicken, rice, and vegetable casserole along with fabulous desserts and drink. Get your cookies to the church early.  The take-out deliveries get cookies for dessert.  I wish everyone could eat “in-house” with us, but that is not feasible for many folks. We need helpers and drivers to get the food out to the community.
Our congregation extends sincere sympathy to the friends and family of Jimmy Woods.   Jimmy was a nice fellow and good boy while growing up. When we were children, he would visit his cousins across the road from our house and we would all play in their yard.
The little “preemie baby”, Sterlin Dane, we are praying for, is doing well and gaining weight! Irene Sohm went through the procedure on her heart with flying colors. She phoned Ken and I in the best of spirits!  Praise God and His mercy for these out-comes.
Pat Leatherwood has some health issues and would appreciate your prayers.  Recently, Pat and his son, Lee, did a much needed and appreciated repair service at Jeanne Wendt’s home.  Jeanne can use her kitchen sink again!
D.J. Klutts was our Worship Leader last Sunday and did a great job. She read the scripture lesson from Luke 13:31-35.  I told her she was ready for the six o’clock news now that she is so smooth at public speaking.
Rev. Ken Lunsford title his sermon, “Who Lives in You?”
Jesus told the Pharisees, “Go tell that fox, (Herod) that I will drive out demons and heal people today and tomorrow and on the third day reach my goal.”  Jesus believed what He was doing was God’s work.
If someone rang your doorbell who would they find at home?
Some houses look neat on the outside, but the interior is so cluttered with junk you can’t get through the front door. Some houses look great and impressive, but on the inside everything is artificial.  That is the way people’s lives are sometimes.
What sets the course of your life? What determines the way you think and treat others in your world?  We would like to say that it is our Christian faith that guides us. But is that so?  Two types of people can be home – citizens of the world or citizens of heaven.
The Christian faith is more than a set of doctrines, more than a creed, more than assertions we study. It is the life we live. It is the set of moral principles and decisions that is reflected in our behavior.  It is the words we use, our response to the poor, it is our record of worship and scripture reading and most certainly our attention to prayer.  What does a follower of Jesus Christ look like to you:  In your community, In your church?  Is it someone who shows love through caring for others?  …………
I cannot say I am a child of God and then live afraid someone will discover my true identity!  May we in truth say, Christ lives in me for I live in Him. Amen!

I need to tell you something I should have years ago.  And that is, if you are looking for Pastor Ken Lunsford, it is doubtful he will be at home.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love to talk with people, and I don’t mind the phone calls from friends or congregation members looking for Ken.  I am happy to chat with a wrong number.  But they won’t find Pastor Ken at home!
The general public thinks ministers’ only work on Sunday or perform the occasional funeral or wedding.  They are mistaken.  Most Pastors are busy visiting the sick and dying, helping with transients or the homeless, counseling with both church members and non-members, researching the scriptures for a sermon, being part of community activities, and many other things. And now you know.
The invention of the cell phone is a wonderful aid in tracking pastors and husbands in general.
I served as Worship Leader this past Sunday and read the scripture lesson from Luke 4:1-13.
Irene Sohm will have heart surgery this week in Duncanville.  She is looking forward to feeling much better and having more energy.  We are all praying that the surgery is a success and that Irene comes home soon.

Rev. Ken Lunsford preached on temptation and Jesus’ time in the wilderness when the devil came to tempt Him.
We all know what it is to be tempted, even Jesus was tempted.
Luke tells us that immediately after His baptism, that Jesus, who was full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness for forty days.  Christ ate nothing during that time.  The devil told Him to turn a stone into bread, but Jesus said, “Man does not live by bread alone.”  The devil kept on offering things to Jesus and He kept on refusing them.
Jesus surly frustrated the devil and the devil left Him until an opportune time.  The devil did not quit, he just made a strategic retreat.
Jesus knows the power of temptation over the human soul. On the night He was betrayed He told His disciples to “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”
We need to heed Christ’s teachings and rely on God whose power is greater than the tempter and can give us victory over every evil.

This Sunday is Daylight Savings Time so prepare to turn those clocks forward an hour.
We have Ash Wednesday to start the Lenten Season and Juanita Duncan has a good idea to celebrate Lent.  Leta Sage calls it the Duncan Challenge!  The congregation has been challenged to commit random acts of kindness whenever and wherever they can.  We have a fun bulletin board to stick little cutouts with our kind acts written on them.
The local schools will take Spring Break all next week.  So, look out for the kiddos in your neighborhood.
Pat Outlaw has a birthday today and Jaxson Salinas had one last Friday. Lee and Betty Lusk celebrated their anniversary last Sunday.
Laura Leatherwood announced that she and Jimmy’s oldest grandchild just became a teenager. Aly is a sweet, pretty, young lady and will continue to be a joy.
Lisa Leatherwood served as Worship Leader and she read the scripture lesson from Luke 9:28-43.  Lisa also gave testimony to how much better, and healthier she feels, she praised God and the prayers offered for her well-being.
Then I told everyone I was feeling better and all the tests I’ve recently taken for my heart showed mild complications.  And I deeply appreciate all the concern shown for me.  The Lord continues to bless me.
Our newest member, Julia Broussard, sang “In the Garden” and it was beautiful, during the serving of Communion.
Cole Moore performed the acolyte duties.
Rev. Ken Lunsford preached on experiencing the mountaintop, but to remember the valley below.
Many of us have had those happy moments when we felt everything was going right in our life. Or we felt close to God, it may have been your wedding, the birth of a child, or a moving, spiritual, occurrence at church.  These events connect us with the mystery of creation and eternity.
Jesus’ transfiguration on the mountain was a glorious event. Luke says the appearance of Jesus’ face changed, and His clothes flashed like lightning.  Moses and Elijah were there talking with Jesus, then they disappeared.  After God said that Jesus was His son and to Listen to Him!  Peter, John, and James were there and witnessed these things.
The next day, Jesus and His companions came down from the mountain and went back to the daily routine of teaching, preaching, and caring for the broken and hurting people of their world.  Back to the reality of life in the valley.
We believe God’s infinite love is available to all,
