The Sunrise Service organized by the Dublin Ministerial Alliance was joyful. The weather was perfect for the occasion. We appreciate the efforts made by all the ministers and churches involved. Pat Beaty played the keyboard for us and led the singing. We all were truly “in the garden” with Jesus.
All Christians have more that binds us together than differences that separates us apart.
Wow, did those pancakes and sausage taste good after the Sun Rise Service. David Cleveland and his daughter, Adrian Salinas, mixed and cooked the food. Stormy Armstrong helped out also and her husband,
Rodney, came along to help with logistics. Gene Coan was there doing heavy lifting also. The congregation thanks the “kitchen crew” and any others who pitched in to make the breakfast a pleasure.
The Easter Egg Hunt was fun and the children’s baskets were filled to over flowing.
Stormy Armstrong again served as Worship Leader for the regular Sunday services. Kaitlyn Gordon and Leah Kunselman served as
acolytes.
We learned Rickey Rowe and Dr. Harlan Raley shared a birthday on April 4. Adrian Salinas will celebrate a birthday on April 22.
Doris Morton had the most family present for Easter Sunday. They filled one pew and half another. Rev. Ken Lunsford came in second with a pew full. Raymond Salinas brought a lot of family to church. His mother got to hold the new baby, Jaxon, through the service and it was a labor
of love.
Pastor Ken titled his sermon, “Crying at the Tomb.” It was taken from the 20th chapter of the Book of John.
The story is about those who stood at the cross and kept vigil to the end. Mary Magdalene stayed till Jesus was taken down and placed in the tomb. She returned to the tomb on the third day to finish preparing Jesus’body for burial. Mary Magdalene cried so much she did not recognize Jesus standing outside the tomb until he called her name.
Ken said most of you have cried at the grave of a close friend or loved one. Maybe you wept so hard you could not sense the risen Master seeking to comfort you. Perhaps you are in church today seeking to experience the kind of transformation Mary Magdalene experienced, to have the fog of doubt and fear lifted from your mind and heart and to know that the Good
News really is true. Christ lives and because he lives, you and I can receive the gift of eternal life Jesus is calling your name, the Gospel is true, Jesus is alive, and He is here with reassurance. Mary heard the Master speak her name and through her tears she knew. He IS alive, Christ is risen!
