I must apologize for a confusing line in last week’s article. I failed to erase a sentence from a previous article!
Spring continues to be busy in our church and with our congregation.
Pastor Ken Lunsford has a confirmation class going. They will meet on May 7, 14, and 28 at 6:00 p.m. The classes are not just for children, adults are welcome to come and learn more about our Christian faith.
It is Yard Sale time, we will hold a big sale on the front lawn on Saturday, May 18, starting at 7:00 a.m. Please support us in this effort.
May 19 there is a Conference of the West District at Oakdale United Methodist Church in Stephenville, it begins at 4:00 p.m.
A mission trip group is coming to Dublin this summer to help repair homes. What a blessed thing for our town. The work will be for the exterior of the house. Pray for the safety of this group.
There are “special” hearing devices at the back of our sanctuary that are connected to the sound system. They work wonders for the hard of hearing.
The atrium garden is available for prayer and meditation; the gate is unlocked. It is a great place to spend time with our Lord.
Our congregation extends heartfelt sympathy to the family who lost their young mother and two children in the flash flood.
I served as Worship Leader this past Sunday and pastor Ken was his own acolyte. The scripture reading was from John 20:19-31.
“Blessed are Those Who Believe” was the title of Rev. Ken Lunsford’s lesson.
The Bible verses from John talk about Jesus appearing to the disciples while Thomas was not with them.
Thomas would not believe Jesus was alive till he could see Jesus’ nail pierced hands and spear pierced side for himself. Eight days later Jesus again appeared to them in a locked house. Jesus said, “Peace be with you.” He told Thomas to put his fingers into Jesus’ hands and his hand into Jesus’ side.
Thomas said, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said, “Blessed are those who don’t see and yet believe.”
That is an important statement. They are indeed blessed. They are healthier, happier, and generally more effective in relating to others than doubters and cynics.
All thinking people have their doubts, and it would be great if God wrote “I love you,” on a giant billboard or the tail of a comet. But even then, cynics would tell us it is freak atmospheric conditions.
It is the followers of the Man from Galilee who make this world a better place to live. And I want to make my stand with them! With them I believe this world was the creation of a good and loving God. I believe the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ has changed humanity forever. I don’t have all the answers; but put me down as a believer.
Thank you for reading! God's Blessings be on You!
