On Sunday, the 22 Pastor Ken and his wife Judy, traveled to Cross Plains for an exchange of ideas with other pastors and wives. Dublin is a member of a “Cluster Group” of churches that includes Rising Star, May, Lake Brownwood, Cross Plains and Gorman United Methodist Churches.
The group was served a Coney Island hot dog supper along with several youth that were participating in Youth Fellowship. The grownups had a brain storming session while the youth played a volley ball match. Ideas discussed were an overnight “lock-in,” mission trips, “fun gatherings, and other events for the combined youth of the cluster group.
There will be a covered dish dinner on Sunday, 4-29, following church services. There is always plenty of food so please stay for the fellowship. If you don’t have time to cook, then something from the grocery store is perfectly fine. No food is turned away! Visitors are most welcome to come and eat.
The new floor tile planned for the annex entry way will be on display and the new dishwasher is installed. So come on by and view it all.
Our big rummage sale is planned for Friday May 4 and Saturday May 5 and truly “One man’s trash, is another man’s treasure.” I have already shopped in the storage barn and bought a floor lamp and a candle. We need to move the sale items out of the barn to the Clay Annex on the 29th.
The Administrative Council will hold a meeting on May 2 at 6:30 p.m.
Nancy Wooldridge served as Worship Leader this past Sunday, Cody Belew and Gene Coan were our ushers.
Laura and Jim Leatherwood’s family joined them at church and they filled a pew with children and grandchildren. They were celebrating Laura’s birthday and after church they all went out to eat at a local restaurant.
We learned James Sage experienced a heart episode and was in the hospital in Stephenville for a while. It seems to an electrical problem and James and Leta will see a specialist in Fort Worth this week.
Ronnie Belew was to see a specialist on Tuesday, 4-24, about his difficulties. After the service on Sunday there was a “Laying on of hands” and prayers for Ronnie. This was a heartfelt and earnest moment and most all the congregation stayed to pray. The Belews appreciated your prayers and Pastor Ken was pleased with the response.
During the children’s lesson Pastor Ken talked about playing with dominos. He told the little ones that adults have all kinds of games they play with dominos, but little children like to build things with them. He said it is fun to line them up and knock just one forward and they all fall down one after the other.
Pastor Ken that is the way the disciples spread the news that Jesus Christ was resurrected. They told a person and that person told someone else till the word had spread across the earth.
“Repent and Grow in Christ’s Ways!” was the title of Pastor Ken Lunsford’s sermon. He said the apostle Peter never missed an opportunity to talk about Jesus and that Peter had a passion for his Savior. Peter was also forthright about confronting people about the barriers that kept them from experiencing Christ. Peter didn’t mince words, he says to them, “You handed Him over to be killed, and you disowned Him before Pilate. You asked that a murderer be released. You killed the author of life.” Then he concluded by saying, “Repent, then and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.”
We will never experience Christ’s power in our lives until Christ is the priority in our lives. We are called to become like Christ and all other things will come naturally.
Death is conquered, Christ is risen! Sin no longer has dominion over us. We can truly be changed; we can repent for the joy of it: Praise be to
God!
